Session Title
Portrait of a Web Redesign
Session Description
Pikes Peak Library District is in the process of a major website redesign. We are moving from a Windows platform to a Linux platform; implementing Drupal in place of a database driven, hand-made website; moving to PHP/mySQL in place of an ASP/SQL environment; and implementing EZProxy for database authentication. And that's not all! We're also completely re-vamping our organizational structure based on card sorting and usability studies and training staff and patrons to utilize the new website.
As our plan is to launch in spring of 2009, I'd like to document and present our redesign process. I don't want to tell people how to redesign, I'd just like to illustrate our journey including successes and pitfalls. I think a firsthand account from start to finish of PPLD's redesign will benefit other libraries that are planning similar projects.
