Tagging and Thesauri

Ohhhh. Enabling the Tag function in my Taxonomy vocabulary is pretty cool because it gives you existing terms when you type in a tag.

I wonder if it saves a tag that doesn't exist as a term yet. Only saving this blog entry will tell...

Holy monkey! It saved "Thesaurus" as a term in my Taxonomy vocabulary. Cool! Except I can see where this could go very wrong.

I think I might be too much of a control freak to allow tagging, except for myself. Can you limit this to admin only, I wonder?

Unfortunately it seems that you can't limit the tag option to Admins only. Also, enabling tagging turns the taxonomy into a thesaurus with no heirarchical structure, which won't work for ppld.org. But, a good solution seems to be allowing the Multiple Select option instead of enabling tagging.

But you already knew that.
